Why Volunteer with the Scouting America Conquistador Council?

Every great Scout experience begins with someone willing to share their time, talents, and enthusiasm. Behind every campfire, service project, hike, Pinewood Derby, and leadership opportunity is a volunteer who chose to make a difference in the life of a young person.

At the Scouting America Conquistador Council, volunteers are the heart of our program. Whether you have a few hours to spare, specialized skills to share, or a passion for mentoring youth, there is a place for you in Scouting.

Make a Lasting Difference

Few opportunities allow you to have such a direct impact on the next generation. As a Scouting volunteer, you'll help young people build confidence, develop leadership skills, learn responsibility, and discover their potential. The lessons Scouts learn today often become the foundation for the leaders, professionals, and community members they become tomorrow.

You don't need to be an outdoor expert or lifelong Scout to make a difference. Simply showing up, offering encouragement, and sharing your experience can have a profound impact on a young person's life.

Volunteer in a Way That Fits Your Life

One of the best things about volunteering with Scouting is that there are opportunities for every schedule and interest.

Some volunteers choose to serve as unit leaders, helping guide Scouts throughout the year and watching them grow over time. Others prefer to assist with a specific event, campout, fundraiser, or activity. Whether you can give a few hours a month or take on a larger leadership role, your contribution matters.

Scouting succeeds because people with different skills and availability come together to support youth.

Share Your Skills and Pass on Your Knowledge

Everyone has something valuable to teach.

Are you handy with tools? Enjoy camping, hiking, or fishing? Work in healthcare, technology, engineering, business, education, or the trades? Have experience in art, music, photography, communications, or public speaking?

Scouting offers countless opportunities to share your expertise and inspire young people to explore new interests and career paths. The skill that seems ordinary to you could spark a lifelong passion in a Scout.

Spend More Time with Your Family

Many volunteers first become involved because their child joins Scouting. What they often discover is that volunteering creates meaningful opportunities to spend time together while sharing adventures and celebrating achievements.

Families can camp together, participate in activities, support service projects, and create memories that last a lifetime. Watching your child grow in confidence and leadership while being part of that journey is one of the most rewarding aspects of Scouting.

Build Friendships and Community Connections

Volunteering with Scouting introduces you to people who care about youth development, community service, and making a positive impact. Many volunteers form friendships that last for years, creating a network of support that extends far beyond Scouting activities.

Whether you're new to the area, looking to get more involved in your community, or simply hoping to meet like-minded people, Scouting provides a welcoming environment where meaningful connections naturally develop.

Help Strengthen Our Community

Scouting teaches service, citizenship, and leadership, but these lessons are only possible because volunteers make them happen. Every hour invested in Scouting helps create stronger families, stronger leaders, and stronger communities.

When you volunteer, you're not just helping a Scout earn a badge or complete a project. You're helping shape the future.

Join the Adventure

Scouting America Conquistador Council welcomes volunteers from all backgrounds and experience levels. Whether you'd like to mentor youth, help with an event, share a special skill, support your child's activities, or simply give back to your community, there is a place for you.

The adventure begins with a simple decision to get involved.

Join us and help create the next generation of leaders, explorers, and difference-makers.

Friends of Scouting

Investing in the Future of Our Youth

Every Scout deserves the opportunity to experience adventure, develop leadership skills, serve their community, and grow into a confident, capable adult. Those life-changing experiences don't happen by accident—they happen because caring individuals, families, and community partners invest in the future of Scouting.

Friends of Scouting is the annual giving campaign that helps make those opportunities possible throughout the Conquistador Council. While registration fees and fundraising activities help support the program, they cover only a portion of the cost of delivering a high-quality Scouting experience. Friends of Scouting donations help bridge that gap, ensuring that local Scouts continue to have access to the programs, camps, training, and support that make Scouting such a powerful force for good.

When you support Friends of Scouting, your gift directly impacts youth in our communities. It helps maintain camps and outdoor facilities where lifelong memories are made. It supports training for volunteers who dedicate their time to mentoring young people. It provides resources that help units deliver safe, engaging programs and ensures that families can receive the assistance they need to participate, regardless of financial circumstances.

Your contribution also supports the dedicated staff and volunteers who work behind the scenes to organize events, recruit and train leaders, provide administrative support, maintain records, ensure safety standards are met, and help new families discover the benefits of Scouting. These essential services allow local units to focus on what matters most—delivering meaningful experiences to youth.

Perhaps most importantly, Friends of Scouting helps ensure that no young person is denied the opportunity to participate because of financial hardship. Donations help provide camp scholarships, registration assistance, and uniform support for families who may otherwise be unable to afford the program. Through your generosity, more youth can experience the friendships, leadership opportunities, and adventures that Scouting provides.

Every dollar given to Friends of Scouting is an investment in character, leadership, citizenship, and service. It is an investment in young people who will become tomorrow's community leaders, first responders, business owners, educators, and engaged citizens.

The impact of your gift reaches far beyond a single meeting, campout, or activity. It helps create experiences that build confidence, teach responsibility, inspire service, and shape lives for years to come.

Together, we can ensure that Scouting remains strong, accessible, and available to every young person who wants to be part of the adventure.

Thank you for supporting Friends of Scouting and helping us prepare the next generation for life.

Memorial Tributes

Memorial and Honorary Tributes

Celebrate a Life. Honor a Legacy.

Some people leave a lasting impact through their leadership, service, and commitment to others. A Memorial or Honorary Tribute is a meaningful way to recognize those individuals while helping their legacy continue through Scouting.

Whether honoring the memory of a beloved Scout leader, Eagle Scout, volunteer, parent, or friend of Scouting, your gift helps provide life-changing opportunities for local youth. Through your tribute, the values of honor, service, faith, and citizenship that guided someone's life will continue to inspire future generations.

A tribute gift is more than a donation—it's a lasting expression of gratitude, remembrance, and respect that helps shape the leaders of tomorrow.
