A Weekend of Camaraderie and Conservation: Troops Unite at Cedar Creek Campground

Over the weekend, Troop 59 of Ruidoso, Troop 97 of Hobbs, and Troop 72 of Roswell joined forces at Cedar Creek Campground #3 for a memorable experience of camping and conservation. With a total of 27 individuals, including 13 youth and 6 adults, the troops embarked on a mission to contribute to the preservation of the Lincoln National Forest while fostering bonds of friendship and camaraderie.

The collective effort resulted in an impressive 108 man-hours of service dedicated to various conservation tasks. From removing railroad ties to installing retaining block walls, the Troops demonstrated their commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement. Amidst the hard work, there were moments of laughter, teamwork, and shared satisfaction in making a tangible difference in the local ecosystem.

But it wasn't all work and no play. The weekend also provided opportunities for relaxation and enjoyment of the great outdoors. Campfires crackled, casting a warm glow over the campground as scouts gathered around to share stories and roast marshmallows. Cooking in Dutch ovens added a flavorful touch to the experience, with delicious meals prepared amidst the rustic charm of the wilderness.

As the sun set on the horizon, casting hues of orange and pink across the sky, it became evident that the weekend had been about more than just service hours. It was a celebration of unity, community, and the shared passion for nature that binds these troops together.

Looking ahead, the question arises: Who wouldn't want to do it all over again?

With the success of this weekend serving as inspiration, Troop 59, Troop 97, and Troop 72 extend an open invitation to anyone interested in joining them for another adventure in October. Whether it's lending a helping hand in conservation efforts or simply basking in the joys of camping and fellowship, there's something for everyone to enjoy amidst the beauty of Cedar Creek Campground.

So mark your calendars, pack your gear, and prepare for an unforgettable experience of teamwork, service, and outdoor fun. Troops 59, 97, and 72 eagerly await the opportunity to welcome new friends and old for another weekend of making memories and making a difference in the heart of nature.

Do you have a successful Troop project to share?
