Conquistador Council and the Boys and Girls Club of Chaves County have started a partnership to deliver the Cub Scout program at their Club with over 45 youth!

Scouting America is partnering with The Harris Poll to update a major outcomes study last conducted in 2010. This important research will help measure and understand the long-term impact of Scouting on participants and communities across the nation.

On October 18, the Conquistador Council will proudly host a National Outstanding Eagle Scout Award (NOESA) Ceremony honoring two remarkable leaders from Roswell, New Mexico — Steve Henderson and Mike “Winters” Sisson.

Each evening during the National Championship Air Races, friends gathered at ENMU–Roswell’s Performing Arts Center for our Scouting Movie Nights. The mix was wonderful—some familiar faces returning, and a majority of new ones joining us for the first time.

The Pecos Valley Rotary Club and the Conquistador Council honored past rotary President and past Council Commissioner Mike Hunter on August 6th with the Cliff Dochterman Award for long tenured service to Scouting America and his dedication to the Pecos Valley Rotary and Chaves County.

The countdown is on for the 2027 World Scout Jamboree in Gdańsk, Poland! Already, more than 800 Scouts and leaders from across 49 states have expressed interest in joining the USA Contingent.

On Friday, July 25th, through Sunday, July 26th, 2025, Troop 427-B & G came together for a dynamic day of leadership training, teamwork, and Scout Spirit during their Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST) course.

On a beautiful, albeit warm, evening in Artesia, New Mexico, nearly 50 attendees gathered at Baish Veterans Park to witness a moment that will live in the annals of Scouting in our region: the presentation of the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award (DESA) to Mr. St. Clair Peyton Yates, Jr.—known to many simply as “P.Y.”

Every year on August 1st, Scouts around the globe mark World Scout Scarf Day by proudly wearing their scarves—or neckerchiefs—as a symbol of unity, identity, and the enduring spirit of Scouting.

Lea County Scouts from Troops 300, 301, and 3274, along with Explorers from Lea County Sheriff’s Explorer Post 384, participated as actors in the Hobbs Police Department and Hobbs Fire Department’s first Active Shooter Drill.
