Are you curious about getting your child involved in Scouting? Whether your family is looking for adventure, service, or leadership opportunities, Scouting offers all of that—and more. The best part? It’s simple to get started.

Here’s a quick 1-2-3 guide for parents:
1. Find a Local Unit
Visit www.BeAScout.org and enter your zip code. You’ll see local Cub Scout packs, Scouts BSA troops, Venturing crews, Exploring posts, and other Scouting programs in your area. This tool makes it easy to connect with leaders and learn about the units closest to you.
2. Attend a Meeting (or Two!)
Every unit has its own style, traditions, and community feel. We encourage families to attend a meeting—or even a few different ones—to see which unit best fits your child’s interests and your family’s schedule. Scouting is all about belonging, and finding the right fit is an important first step.
3. Get Involved!
Once you’ve found the right unit, it’s time to jump in. Scouts are always on the move with campouts, service projects, parades, and other community events. Parents are welcome, too—whether you lend a hand at a meeting, join in on an outdoor adventure, or volunteer for a leadership role, your involvement makes Scouting stronger.
Scouting opens the door to lifelong friendships, hands-on learning, and memories your family will treasure for years to come.
