Matt Bristol Honored with NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award at Roswell Convention Center

The Roswell Convention Center was the site of a prestigious event as R. Matthew Bristol was awarded the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) Outstanding Eagle Scout Award.

This honor, which recognizes Eagle Scouts who have demonstrated outstanding achievement at the local, state, or regional level, was presented to Bristol in recognition of his significant contributions to the community and his unwavering dedication to public service.

Matt Bristol’s commitment to community service has been a hallmark of his career and personal life. In 2015, he was honored with the New Mexico State Bar’s Robert H. LaFollette Pro Bono Award for his exceptional work through the Lawyer Referral for the Elderly program, General Referral program, and his pro bono contributions to the community. His leadership extended to the Chaves County Bar’s Pro Bono Committee, where he played a crucial role in ensuring access to legal services for those in need.

Beyond his legal work, Bristol has been deeply involved in civic and community organizations. He and his wife, Patti, served as Campaign Chairs for the United Way of Chaves County in 2015, where he also held the position of vice president on the board. His commitment to civic duty is further reflected in his service on the Public Lands Advisory Committee, City of Roswell Planning and Zoning, and over a decade with the Extraterritorial Zoning Commission.

For ten years, Bristol served on the Board of the Roswell Refuge for Battered Adults, including a term as President. His dedication to supporting vulnerable members of the community has been unwavering.

In addition to his civic involvement, Bristol has been a stalwart supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. He served on the board of the Conquistador Council for a total of 20 years, participated in Eagle Scout Board of Reviews, and acted as a merit badge counselor. In 2019, he was recognized with the Silver Beaver Award for his distinguished service to the council and was also elected as Board President.

Bristol’s passion for education and youth development is evident in his 30 years of service as a Hunter Education instructor in Chaves County. His efforts have positively impacted countless young people in the community.

Since 1988, Matt Bristol has been an active member of the Pecos Valley Rotary Club, where he served as President and participated in numerous fundraising activities to benefit the community.

The NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award is a fitting recognition of Matt Bristol’s lifelong dedication to service and leadership. His contributions have made a lasting impact on the Roswell community, and his example continues to inspire others to give back and lead with integrity.
