What is Sea Base?

Through Scouting America, Sea Base programs empower youth through ocean exploration, adventure, and education.

 

With 3 locations in the Florida Keys, 1 in Abaco Bahamas, and 1 in the United States Virgin Islands; youth participants can choose from 20 different adventure treks which include options for camping, conservation, coral restoration, fishing, marine education, ocean paddling, live aboard sailing, scuba diving, and snorkeling.

 

Founded in 1980 as Scouting Americas first co-educational facility, Sea Base has safely served generations of scouts and middle and high school students. Since 1994, Sea Base has been recognized as a World Organization of Scouting Movement Scout Centers of Excellence for Nature, Environment and Sustainability.

 

Safe, nationally, and internationally recognized, Sea Base is Ocean Adventure at its finest.

SCUBA Live Aboard 4-6

  • One of our most sought-after programs, SCUBA Live Aboard is getting a size update!

  • With the availability of another vessel, our team expanded program availability for a crew minimum of 4 or maximum of 6 attendees.

  • Truly the most all-encompassing of our adventures, in SCUBA Live Aboard, crews sail, dive, snorkel, fish and enjoy life at sea.

  • Available TODAY for 2025 and 2026 Sea Base

Keys Adventure - Islamorada

  • Thanks to several generous donors, Sea Base has now secured the availability of an additional snorkel vessel and expanded participant dormitories to help provide program to Scouts.

  • In this program, crews will experience nearly every activity available in the Florida Keys while overnighting on base in air-conditioned dormitories.

  • Snorkel, fish, paddle craft on the ocean, explore local state parks, and sail.

  • Available TODAY for 2026 Sea Base

Keys Adventure - Brinton Center

  • We have expanded availability for the known and loved Keys Adventure program at the Brinton Environmental Center.

  • Each year, this program typically books solid within minutes of opening registration.

  • In this program, crews will experience nearly every activity available in the Florida Keys.

  • Snorkel, fish, paddle craft on the ocean, sail, explore local state parks, camp for 1 night on Big Munson Island and visit historic Key West.

  • Available TODAY for 2026 Sea Base.
