A Weekend of Adventure at Scout Family Camp

The best family adventures start with Scouting! This October, Cub Scouts and their families gathered at Dowling Aquatic Base in Carlsbad for a weekend of outdoor fun, hands-on activities, and camping.

The October Scout Family Camp and BALOO weekend offered plenty of ways for young Scouts to explore, get creative, and try something new. Activities included a waterfront scavenger hunt, a craft where kids transformed paper plates into colorful fish, a water relay game, and a fishing simulation station.

These activities combined learning and fun, giving Scouts opportunities to practice teamwork, get creative, and explore outdoor skills in an engaging environment.

Camping and Learning Outdoors

Families enjoyed camping at Dowling Aquatic Base, spending time outdoors and experiencing the fun of a weekend away together. Camping gives young Scouts a chance to practice outdoor skills, build independence, and enjoy time with their families and fellow Scouts.

Adult Leaders Build Their Skills

While the Cub Scouts enjoyed their adventures, adult leaders participated in BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) training. The training equips leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to plan safe overnight camping experiences for Cub Scout packs.

With Scouts learning through adventure and adults building their leadership skills, the weekend offered something for everyone.

Scout Family Camp was a wonderful reminder of what Scouting does best: bringing people together through outdoor experiences, new skills, and shared memories. We look forward to many more adventures with our Scouts and families!
