Celebrating a Milestone: Victoria Arnett’s Eagle Scout Ceremony
This week, VMV Hall at NMMI was brimming with excitement and pride as Victoria Arnett was honored with the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. The ceremony, a culmination of years of dedication and hard work, was made truly memorable by the collective efforts of many individuals who came together to celebrate Victoria’s remarkable achievement.
Victoria’s friend Valerie, who made the journey from Denver, exemplified the spirit of camaraderie and support that characterized the event. Her presence was a testament to the strong friendships and connections forged throughout Victoria’s scouting journey.
The ceremony was expertly guided by Steven Xu, who served as the Master of Ceremony, ensuring everything went smoothly and with the right amount of pomp and circumstance. Jimmy Allison and Karl Shelton from the Conquistador Council, BSA, played crucial roles in the event, and their involvement was deeply appreciated.
A highlight of the ceremony was the Eagle Charge delivered by Colonel Tate, the Commandant of Cadets at NMMI. His words were both inspiring and meaningful, setting a tone of honor and commitment that defined the event.
Ana and I had the privilege of handling the welcoming, call to order, and closing, framing the ceremony with a sense of formality and warmth. Chaplain Jacob Graham’s Invocation and Benediction were particularly moving, adding a spiritual dimension to the celebration that resonated with everyone in attendance.
The city of Roswell honored Victoria’s achievement with a proclamation read by Juliana Schaffer Halvorson, marking Victoria as the first female Eagle Scout in Chaves County—a historic milestone worth celebrating. The red, white, and blue-themed decorations, brought to life by Cheryl Baiza-Dillon’s special touch, created a festive and patriotic atmosphere that perfectly complemented the occasion.
Senator Nibert also contributed to the celebration with a proclamation, further acknowledging Victoria’s accomplishment and the significance of her achievement.
A special mention must go to Dyanna Treat, whose meticulous setup of the venue allowed us to focus on enjoying the event without worrying about the details. Her efforts ensured that everything was in place, from the decorations to the food.
Victoria’s ceremony was not just about receiving an award; it was a moment to express gratitude. She honored her mentors by presenting pins to Mr. Allison, Mr. R. Matthew Bristol, and Mr. Parman, acknowledging their support and guidance throughout her scouting journey.
As we look back on the day, it’s clear that Victoria’s Eagle Scout Ceremony was a celebration of not just her achievement, but of the community that supported her along the way.
