Renewing Your Youth and Adult Registration: How Best to Handle Your Renewal

Writer: Council CommunicationsCouncil Communications

Fall Renewal Reminder

School is about to start throughout our Council and that will bring new families joining our units and new units being organized to increase the opportunity to join in each of our communities. Along with welcoming new families into our Packs and Troops, this fall we will be renewing our existing membership on a different cycle than before.

calendar

Our National Council is sending out notices to adult members and parents of youth members to remind them about renewing their registration. These notices should be delivered 60 days before expiration to the adult member OR the parent of the youth member. Additionally, the Unit Key 3 leadership will receive notification of members due to renewal. This process for the Unit Key 3 notification is behind the initial schedule of delivery, so Unit Key 3 members are receiving this notification 12 days prior to the month of expiration.

membership changes effective march 1, 2024

There are some steps that Unit Key 3 members can take to ensure that families are receiving these notifications AND to keep aware of your member due to renewal.

  1. Ensure every youth has a parent email address associated with the youth profile. If not, then they will not receive a notification. This can be updated through the roster and individual Scout profile page through https://advancements.scouting.org Scoutbook Plus (previously Internet Advancements roster). For additional assistance, please contact your District Executive team member.

  2. Review your Unit roster through your my.scouting account, Scoutbook, or Scoutbook plus sites to pull a report titled “Members Due to Renew.” This will show you the month of expiration for your youth and adult membership.

Youth and Adult membership renewals are different this year for all Councils. We will likely run into some hurdles as we navigate through this process together. Please contact your District Executive or our Council Service center if you have any questions about this process.
