4-Hers Kick Off Fair Season with Summer Fun at Camp Jim Murray

On Monday, July 15, 2025, the TVC 4-H Club of Lea County gathered at Camp Jim Murray for their annual summer party — and what a day it was! With the Lea County Fair and Rodeo just around the corner, the club held a quick pre-fair meeting to ensure every goat, pig, and chicken was accounted for. Once the planning was done, it was time for some serious fun.

The afternoon gave way to a classic cookout, followed by a full-blown water fight that left everyone laughing, soaked, and smiling. The day wrapped up around a warm campfire where members could unwind, share stories, and shake off the stress of fair prep.

Camp Jim Murray offered the perfect mix of nature, camaraderie, and adventure — something Scouts know well. In fact, Scouts use Camp Jim Murray for similar events, learning outdoor skills, building friendships, and having year-round fun that builds confidence and character.

Inspired by their visit, the 4-Hers are already making plans to return for a fall campfire. Our camps and facilities are open to other youth-serving and community organizations — and there’s always room at the fire for new friends.

Whether you're planning a team-building retreat, a youth club outing, or a weekend of outdoor fun, our camps are the perfect setting for your next adventure. With scenic views, open-air pavilions, fire rings, and plenty of space for activities, Camp Jim Murray and our other council properties offer an ideal backdrop for groups of all kinds. From water games to cookouts to peaceful campfires, your group can enjoy the same memorable experiences as the TVC 4-H Club.
